Gunnar Groebler was made the new CEO of Salzgitter AG on July 1, 2021. The 49-year-old graduate engineer was last responsible for the Wind Business Unit as a member of the Executive Group Management for the Swedish energy company Vattenfall. “After 21 exciting and instructive years at Vattenfall, I decided to take the next step,” the new Group boss says. Groebler follows Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heinz Jörg Fuhrmann who at the age of 65 has now retired as planned. Fuhrmann’s services to the Group were honored by Heinz-Gerhard Wente, the chairman of the Supervisory Board. “In his 25 years on the board of the Group Professor Fuhrmann stood for solidarity, innovation and social and economic responsibility.” The strategy pursued in this context would now be continued, Wente stressed. “This is why I’m pleased to have found in Mr. Groebler a successor who has great expertise and experience in important aspects of the key future issues that will affect Salzgitter AG.”
